The SHSP identifies multiple key emphasis areas considered to be the top contributing factors of crashes, serious injuries, and fatalities in Georgia.
Emphasis areas task teams comprise of champions, practitioners, safety advocates, executive leaders, non-profit agencies, community members, and local/state government agencies working together to implement comprehensive traffic safety countermeasures statewide to reduce traffic crashes, injuries, and fatalities. This structure has proven to be beneficial to address emerging traffic safety concerns, implement countermeasures approaches statewide efficiently, and identify potential funding to support the continuation of efforts.
